Music
I’ve continuously written, performed, and recorded music since I was 11. See below for the new, the old, and everything in between.
Contact me for booking or to discuss collaborating on your next musical endeavor.
Original Music
Ethereal vocals, introspective lyrics, and melodic hooks are the pillars of my sound as I shape-shift across folk, rock, and electro-pop. Influences include Jenny Lewis, Emily Haines, Waxahatchee, and Maggie Rogers. New music is available at kristinbigness.bandcamp.com and wherever you stream. For my back catalog, please visit thebignessband.com.
Custom Covers
One of my greatest joys in life is reinterpreting songs I love. In 2020, we released this cover of “Something in the Air” to raise money for the ACLU. If you can’t find the perfect version of your favorite song, consider working with me to create it. Here are a few covers I’ve performed for weddings and special events: Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley), You’re My Best Friend (Queen), Stand By Me (Ben E. King), Strangers (The Kinks).
Session Musician: Studio & Stage
Sitting in with bands part- or full-time has always been part of my music career. I currently play bass and sing backup for Jennie Lowe Stearns, Young Legs, and John Bueno. Contact me if you need backing vocals, bass, rhythm guitar, piano/synth.
To hear a recent studio collaboration, check out the backup vocals on “Dust” by Sunk Coast.

Gigs & House Shows
For booking, contact me. To know when and where I’m playing, please follow me on Instagram @thebigness.
In 2025, John Bueno and I started hosting house shows as a way to build community around songwriters who inspire us. Contact me if you’re in the Finger Lakes area and you would like to join the mailing list for these special events.
Bio
Bigness grew up in a musical family, starting piano lessons in the first grade. She began writing music and formed her first band in the basement at age 11, and she was recording professionally by age 14.

Since those early days, she’s played both leading and supporting roles in half a dozen bands spanning genres and instruments. She has opened for artists such as Ted Leo, Jenny Owen Youngs, and Arum Rae.
In 2011, she formed The Bigness, an indie rock/powerpop outfit. Over their 10-year tenure in Philadelphia, The Bigness performed on stages of every size throughout the northeast corridor, including Philadelphia’s premier July 4th festival, the largest July 4th celebration in America. Philadelphia’s WXPN called The Bigness’s second album, Time Traveler, “a glorious pop record in the vein of Belly and 90s R.E.M.; recorded with the prolific Jeff Zeigler, the album’s songs are a radiant reflection on life and death, on the temporal onslaught and the things left behind in its wake.”

Since moving to Ithaca in 2021, Bigness and her partner, John Bueno, have performed at Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival (backing Jennie Lowe Stearns) and on Ithaca’s WRFI (backing Young Legs). Follow @thebigness on Instagram and kristinbigness.thebandcamp.com for the latest releases, collaborations, and tour dates.
